How to subscribe to this blog

It is fine to visit this blog directly at http://csdiary.com. However, you may find it more convenient to use a feed reader. A feed reader, or aggregator, will have the advantage of letting you know when a new article has been posted.

For example, you can use a web-based reader, such as http://reader.google.com or http://www.bloglines.com, and subscribe to this blog by using the above URL. Or, you can download and install one of the many free feed reader applications, such as FeedReader. Some of these applications will have some kind of desktop alert feature.

If you subscribe to this blog, you can click on the “Site Admin” link and arrange to get an email notification whenever a new article is posted. Simply go to the Manage page and then select the options for your subscription as you see fit.

You can also use a service such as BlogAlert and to get an email when new articles are posted to the blog. In the case of BlogAlert, you will be asked for the URL of the “feed”, not the blog. The correct address to use is the feed URL for the blog, http://www.csdhead.cs.cmu.edu/feed/atom. Note that most up-to-date web browsers also understand feeds, and so if you type this URL into a browser (such as Firefox), it will ask if you want to subscribe to updates via the browser’s built-in feed reader. This will enable your browser to alert you to any new articles that get posted to the blog.
