Keeping Up

Personal

I’m way overdue for a new entry on this blog.

The past two weeks have been pretty crazy. I attended the Computing Leadership Summit and the CRA Board meeting in DC; made a trip to Florida with Luis von Ahn to visit with donors; coauthored and submitted two research papers and two proposals; wrote one research policy piece and participated in writing another; got through the annual department budget review; and hosted 53 newly admitted PhD students for the department’s Open House. Oh, and I shouldn’t forget about the day I spent with my dad (took him to a hockey game for his birthday) and a multitude of other issues that one attends to in day-to-day life.

Whew. And now, today, I am in the Silicon Valley.

Anyway, I have a lot to blog about! I’ll try to get caught up a bit in the next few blog posts. For now, though, let me simply say how thankful I am to be surrounded by so many productive, visionary and, well, happy people. It has been very, very productive couple of weeks, and, of course the people I get to rub elbows with day in and day out did almost all the heavy lifting. I’m doing well just to keep up.
