Jeannette Wing Honored as Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania
Yesterday, Jeannette Wing was named by Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and First Lady Judge Marjorie Rendell as one of seven Distinguished Daughters of Pennsylvania. We all know Jeannette as the incredibly dynamic leader and accomplished scholar, a senior professor of computer science at Carnegie Mellon University. She is also a great public servant, on leave now to work as an Assistant Director of the National Science Foundation, heading up the Computer & Information Science & Engineering (CISE) Directorate, responsible for funding over 80% of the nation’s academic research in computer science.
This honor recognizes outstanding achievements by Pennsylvania women, with impact on a national or statewide scale. That pretty much describes Jeannette.
Way to go, Jeannette!
