McCain Answers Science Debate Questions
A few weeks ago I reported that Obama had provided his answers to the Science Debate 2008 questions. McCain has now done the same, as reported by the CRA Computing Research Policy blog. Like Obama, McCain supports increases for science funding, though stops short of supporting full funding for the America COMPETES Act, which calls for a doubling of the basic science budgets (such as NSF).
Going from this mixed news to bad news, it looks like the Congress will have a continuing resolution for the 2009 budget at least through March 6. While this is not unexpected, this could mean another year or so of flat (or real dollar cut) funding levels.

At least with McCain, he is an honorable man who we can trust to keep his word. With Obama, he is just another slick politician who will do anything and say anything to get elected. See how Obama kept his word about taking on public funding for the presidential campaign? He didn’t. Who is to say Obama will keep his word about science funding?
