    Dear Peter,

While searching for news on Randy Pausch I came upon your blog and felt from your article that you had perhaps been a student of his at one time and certainly have worked with him on projects. I’m an English teacher in Arizona who was introduced to Randy’s lectures by another educator, Judy Taussig, who is currently in the ICU at Banner Desert in Mesa, Arizona, with complications from leukemia. Judy embodies the positive approach to life and illness demonstrated by Randy, whose story will serve as inspiration to many for years to come. I personally know many teachers who have already shared his story with their students. Thank you for posting about Randy, and condolences to his family and friends, who will miss his physical presence in their lives.

    Sincerely,
    Barbara Jordan

News

Randy Pausch passed away this morning, after a brilliant and inspiring battle with pancreatic cancer. Many obituaries will be written today. In fact, ABC News has already published one. Although the news is sad, Randy inspired millions of people and accomplished an amazing amount during his last months. He remained utterly devoted to his family but miraculously found time to co-author a best-selling book, give lectures, make major media appearances, and answer thousands of emails and letters. On top of all that, he continued to participate in the management of the Alice Project. (A progress report on Alice will be posted in a few days.)

Randy will be sorely missed. He leaves behind a legacy that will live for many years to come. Many schools and universities (including Carnegie Mellon) will be providing all incoming students with a copy of the book, The Last Lecture.

My sincerest condolences go out to Jai, Dylan, Logan, and Chloe. They contributed tremendously to Randy’s legacy.
