Randy Pausch Media Avalanche Continues

News

Last week I noticed a spike in traffic on this blog. The server logs show significant amounts of new traffic coming from India. According to Google Analytics, the primary search term leading to the blog is “alice project”. Apparently, Randy Pausch’s “last lecture” has hit Asia.

The media frenzy surrounding Randy Pausch continues unabated. Last week Time Magazine named Randy Pausch one of the world’s 100 most influential people. Interest in Randy has gone seriously global. Just this week the Brazilian TV show, “Fantastico“, did a piece on Randy. (You can watch the video online here. I have a small part in it.) And, we have just learned that Randy will be live on the Oprah Show tomorrow (May 7, 2008, 4pm on ABC here in Pittsburgh). Randy won’t be in the studio, but will be interviewed in his home via satellite.

On a more academic front, a keynote was presented in tribute to Randy at SIGCSE 2008. You can download a video of the presentation at the SIGCSE 2008 videos web site.
