Tuomas Sandholm Named One of the Most Influential Academics
Byron Spice in our Media Relations office just told me that Tuomas Sandholm has been named one of the three most influential academics in the business world, by Conde Nast Portfolio. This first-ever “brilliant issue” showcases 73 of the “biggest brains in business”, putting Tuomas in the company of people like Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Steven Spielberg, Jeff Immelt, and Oprah Winfrey. The article cites Tuomas’ fantastic research in algorithms for business-to-business auction sites.
Way to go, Tuomas!
Of course, while this is all very impressive, most of the CMU students who see this will be particularly impressed by the photo that appears in the article. It shows Tuomas alongside the two other named academics, Robert Engle (NYU) and Janine Benyus (Montana):
Yup — that’s good old Wean Hall 7500! (For those of you who don’t know Tuomas Sandholm, he’s the one on the far right.)
